Rearcross U-12's emerged victorious over Clodiagh Rangers 'B' on a 6-2 score line in this league game played at a sun splashed Rearcross FC Grounds on Saturday afternoon. The hosts pressed from the kick off and a Colm Lenihan shot was on target but was blocked on the line, Rearcross took the lead in the 7th minute when Aaron Kennedy was the provider on the right to Colm Lenihan who forced the ball on to the cross bar before Eoin O'Connell followed up to rifle to the net at the back post. The Drombane side were also having their moments and Cathal Kennedy had to be sharp to save from Oisin Treacy a minute later and then Jack Ryan side footed the ball across the face of the goal mouth. It was end to end as Cillian Kennedy and Billy John Caplis fired over with good efforts, the Rea bhoys were gaining a foothold and doubled their tally in the 19th minute when Cillian Kennedy's free kick from outside the box went all the way to the roof of the net. Stephen Rochford got on the scoresheet with a fine solo run on the right before slotting to the back of the net with precision. The last action of the half saw Patrick Dawson's free kick drift over the target. Rearcross were fast out of the blocks in the second half as Billy John Caplis stretched it to four with a thunderuous effort to the back of the net from a tight angle. Patrick Dawson banged home with a well struck effort to give Rearcross a five nil lead and then the visiting custodian Will Ryan made a fine block from Cathal Kennedy seconds later. The Drombane side pull a goal back when Paraic Ryan finished to the net at the back post following a corner kick and then Cillian Kennedy denied Tom Purcell with a reflex save midway through the half before Patrick Dawson netted his second of the afternoon eleven minutes from time with a fine individual effort following a mazy run on the left which finished with a low drive to the bottom corner of the net. Full credit to a visiting side which didn't throw in the towel and an Oisin Treacy shot was inches wide of the post before Sean Philips snatched a consolation goal for the visitors five minutes from time with a well struck shot to leave a final score line of 6-2 in favour of the home side.
